:Ferrets are so beautiful and there are so many different color variations to choose from.  Here is a list of the different coats of ferrets

  1. White
  2. Sable(this color is the typical black footed ferret color)
  3. Silver
  4. Mix

These are the base colors, and the ones you will see the most, but there are variations.  These variations are variance of the main colors above.

1. White Variants

  • Albino
  • Cream
  • White with a hint of another color, but not enough to be classified as a silver or sable
  • White Mitt

2. Sable Variants

  • Dark Sable
  • Light Sable
  • Sable Mitt
  • Black Sable
  • Chocolate
  • Cinnamon

3. Silver

  • Light Silver
  • Dark Silver
  • Cream with silver highlights
  • Panda
  • Silver Mitt
  • Silver Sable

4. Mix

  • You can't really categorize this one specifically but its just a unique pattern that doesn't fit in the above fur patterns

One other thing with ferrets is that many of them change color from the time they are a baby to the time they are grown.  You might start out with a sable, and it might end up being a silver!
